Net zero carbon reduction in livestock – starting with feed carbon reduction

Product introduction

The damage caused by climate change is now being felt across the globe, highlighting the fact that climate change-induced disasters are already an issue that the world's population will have to face in the future. The livestock industry emits greenhouse gases during the production process, and there is a need to discuss ways to reduce emissions and slow down the pace of climate change. In this regard, the Institute of Taiwan Livestock Research Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture held several meetings with experts and scholars last year to complete a proposal to revise the national standard for pig and chicken feeds and to set the maximum and minimum limits of crude protein in feeds that are consistent with the net-zero trend, and this proposal has been sent to the Bureau of Standards and Inspection of the Ministry of Economic Affairs to complete a preliminary review. It is hoped that the revision of the national standard for feed components will help to achieve accurate feeding of livestock and poultry, reduce feed waste, and lessen the impact of environmental pollution.
