Gwo is both a biologist and an aquaculturist. He studies the cryobiology of aquatic organisms. He had years of experience in the cryopreservation of semen, oocytes, embryos, and embryonic stem cells from aquatic organisms. And apply the technique to the Taiwan aquaculture industry. He used DNA fingerprint techniques to evaluate the effects of fish stock enhancement programs in Taiwan and to construct the phylogeny and biogeography of different important economic Taiwan aquaculture species from different regions. Currently, he is studying the cryodamage of fish sperm and invertebrates such as small abalone and oyster sperm.
